BBB Series: Anna Brian

Updated: Aug 30, 2023

Name: Anna Brian

Connection to Bristol: Economics student at the University of Bristol

Why and when did you first move to Brussels: I came to Brussels in September 2021 as an exchange student. I really wanted to study here to practice my language skills and get an international perspective on my subject.

Current job & role: Student at KU Leuven

Best life lesson in Brussels: The bureaucracy of moving to a new country can be very daunting, but don’t panic and make sure you have everything you need and everything will work out. Once you’re there take every opportunity to meet new people, especially those who have lived here longer than you. They know all the hidden gems.

Stay on top of paperwork!

Recommendation for someone that would like to come to work in Brussels: Brussels is in an excellent location to travel to different parts of Belgium and Europe in general. Definitely take advantage of that!

A thing from Brussels that you would like to export to Bristol: I know it’s a cliché, but the beer here is fantastic. It beats cider any day.

A thing from Bristol that you would like to import to Brussels: Parsons meal deal and the pub quizzes

Favourite place in Bristol: Clifton village in summer

Favourite place in Brussels: Sablon in the city centre is very scenic and a great place to eat/drink.
