Bath Uni Colleagues Visit Brussels
Updated: Aug 24
The B&BBO was delighted to welcome colleagues from the University of Bath to Brussels last week.
Lily Rumsey, Director of International Relations, and Tracey Stenson Jukes, International Partnerships Manager (Education), were joined by Martin Gore, Placements Manager from the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, on a 3-day trip to the EU capital.
The visit kicked-off with a very well attended networking event for alumni and current students on placement in the city – it was great to meet so many enthusiastic ‘Bathonians’ in Brussels!
Lily and Tracey then took part in a series of meetings with representatives of the EU Institutions, the UK government, and Brussels-based university networks. Interesting discussions were had with all on a range of topics related to current higher education policy, research & innovation funding, as well as opportunities for new and continued collaboration.
A fruitful, informal working lunch also took place with colleagues from the UnILiON network.
Martin meanwhile had a busy schedule of meetings with the many undergraduate students currently working in EU Affairs in Brussels as part of their placement year. The visit provided a great opportunity to catch-up on their progress and plans for their final year back in Bath, as well as to meet their employers, who are providing valuable work experience opportunities.
Many thanks to all who participated in the programme of activities and for making it a success!
