Bristol’s PVCs Visit Brussels

The B&BBO was delighted to welcome Prof Agnes Nairn, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), Prof Michele Barbour, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise and Innovation) and Dr Mark Allinson, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching), from the University of Bristol to Brussels last week.

The visit started with a very informative session organised by Bristol's member organisation the Coimbra Group about the network's activities, which was joined by counterparts from Belgian members UCLouvain and KU Leuven.

In Brussels, Agnes, Michele and Mark also took part in fruitful meetings with representatives of the European Commission’s DG for Research and Innovation, the UK Mission to the EU, and the European University Association.

Positive discussions were had with all on a range of topics including the UK’s association and international cooperation under Horizon Europe, EU research and education policy developments, and opportunities for new and continued collaboration.

The visit concluded with a second very interesting session together with the Coimbra Group and representatives of the European Commission’s DG for Education and the Circle U and Una Europa European Universities Initiative alliances.

A well-attended University of Bristol networking reception also took place – it was great to meet so many enthusiastic alumni and friends from across the research sector and beyond in Brussels. Many thanks to all who participated in the PVCs' programme of activities and helped to make it a success!
